Keep an eye out for the
newly arrived issue 4 of Newcastle University’s student magazine {react}, where
we asked for your take on the theme "In the blink of an eye". From
monitoring processes using light to startled squids, there’s plenty to cast
your eye upon. You’ve also contributed articles about on-going research, field
experiences, and a special feature on the British Science Festival 2013.
We are now looking for people to help us with the distribution, so
if you would like to help get {react} out to our readers and make sure there
are always plenty of copies in e.g. your common room or school reception,
please get in touch!
Want to get in on this great way of telling the world about your
research and degree? You’re in luck as we’re now accepting proposals for issue
5 with the theme “Stay on target”.
Here
are some suggestions to get you started:
·
How do self-assembling nanostructures stick to their blueprints?
·
If you are involved in drug design, open up the world of targeted
drug delivery to those outside the lab.
·
Governments around the world are setting all sorts of goals for
sustainable resource use and waste reduction, but can they actually reach those
targets?
Can’t think of anything to do with our theme? Don’t worry; we
still want to hear about your research and experiences for our “NCL Research”
and “NCL Uni Science” sections. Alternatively, you could write about your
personal Science Hero or tell us about an exciting Science Fiction.
Please
send your proposals to react.mag.team@gmail.com by
January 4th - what a great way to kick off the New Year! We only need about 100
words about your planned article: what will it cover and what makes it
interesting? Please do not send entire articles or previously published work. We look forward to hearing from you!
